The Advantages of an Aquor V2+ Wall Hydrant

Wall Hydrant vs. Hose Bibb: The Advantages of an Aquor V2+ Wall Hydrant

Hey everyone, this is Brandon Freeman with Freeman’s Construction. We’re outside a new custom home we’re building in Ramona, California. I want to show you a unique hose bib for this project. So let’s take a look at it.

All right, this is where we would install a typical water bib on a home. But in this home, we would install an Aquor V2+ wall hydrant in black stainless.

What Does A Regular Siphon Break Device Do?

You have a hose bibb (obviously) and a siphon break device at every home. We typically put the latter in if there’s a regular water faucet outside. It breaks the siphon so that no dirty water can be picked up in a puddle or outside of the building and siphoned back into the clean, fresh water in the home.

One drawback to these regular siphon break devices is that they can spray water all over your home. So if you’ve got stucco or siding, it doesn’t matter — it eventually just attracts dirt. And if it’s hard water, you got hard water spots, and they make a mess.

What Makes Aquor Wall Hydrant A More Convenient Device?

This particular Aquor house hydrant is a convenient device to use. It’s also a quick disconnect. Water bibbs with different types of shapes and adapters, but this one has an on-off valve on it. So you can twist it in place at the top of the wall hydrant, and now you have your hose connection.

What’s also lovely about this Aquor hose bib with backflow preventer in a custom home is that it’s all spring-loaded inside. So as soon as you pull it off, it shuts and does not leak. And this V2+ has an auto drain, so if any water needs to drain, it drips right out, and it’s done.

There are a lot of different trim pieces too that you can get. We opted to go with one for all the board and batten siding. It has an inch-and-a-half standoff off the building. It also fits with all the other black trims in this home, which is why we chose to go with black. It’s much more aesthetically pleasing than the regular siphon break device.

Once you’re done, you can shut it and quickly disconnect your hose and bring it to wherever else you need to use it.
