Custom Home Concrete Foundation Pour by Freemans Construction Inc.
Good morning. It’s Bill Freeman with Freeman’s Construction. I’m here in Ramona at a foundation pour. Chris Vincent, with CV Construction, and his crew is pouring the foundation for us.
Concrete pumps
We ordered a concrete pump today. We don’t have the room to get around the building, so we often end up pumping our foundation jobs. Pumping the concrete makes for a cleaner and more efficient job. Today we are using “Me Too Concrete Pumping” and they do a great job every time.
The order of pouring concrete slabs
The first step in pouring a foundation is to fill in all the outside footings first. That creates a strong base at the bottom of that form, so the concrete doesn’t blow out along the outside of the foundation as more concrete fills up. The finishers then transition into the garage. You can see how they filled up that section and floated it off.
Now, they’re continuing across the entire house slab. You can see where the structural walls will be built. They setup those two by fours, and those bolts that they tied to the boards will anchor those walls into the footing below when they tighten the bottom plates down.

We are expecting rain this afternoon, so we’re glad to finish the concrete slab. Rainstorms often fill in mud and other stuff into the trenches, so it’s always great to beat the rain. The concrete finishers will probably have this foundation finished off between 1:00 or 2:00 this afternoon. Once they’re done, they’ll strip off all the forms and clean everything up. That should prepare us to start the framing as soon as the rainstorm passes over.
