How to Reduce EMF Exposure
Alright, I’d like to show you how we can wire differently to reduce EMF exposure. We used MC cable, and I want to demonstrate how this works.
Typically, you see Romex wiring inside of a house. It’s got an actual armored shielding on it here, okay? I have a TriField EMF Meter Model TF2. I have this Gaussmeter on the standard electrical setting. I’m going to show you how to read this.
EMF Reading
So, you want the VM on this reading to be at 10 or less. And what we’re getting here is virtually zero. I’m touching this, and I’m at zero. This box is already wired up because we have power in many parts of the house for temporary lighting. It’s virtually knocking it out completely.
Now, if you come down here to the actual wires, I have actually to back up this far to get under 10. So, I’m like about a foot, man, probably like eight inches off the wall right here to get to where I’m at 10.
To make this happen, these electrical wires must be grounded. The sheathing has to be grounded. Therefore, it’s crucial to establish strong connections here to facilitate that connection. You need metal boxes to do this. Otherwise, this will work just like Romex. If I had Romex in this wall, I would back away from it and still be three feet away, yet get a reading that’s over what I want.

How EMF Exposure Affects You
If you’re sensitive to EMF exposure and say this is by your headboard of where you’re sleeping, this thing’s working on your brain all night long, putting EMF into you. That’s why we keep this away from all the bed walls in the rooms. Spending a little extra money on the MC cable and ensuring it’s grounded well is a significant step in reducing EMF. It virtually takes it down.
I want to show you the panel too. This is our sub-feed coming in from outside. We have a disconnect on the outside. You go to this right here. Look at this. This is 250 Kcmil; the size of this is impressive, but you’re barely getting anything out of it. I’m not even outside the face of the wall cavity here. So, look at the face of the panel. You’ll get a read like this in your garage on a regular panel. It’ll be screaming at you four feet off of it. So, it’s pretty cool.
