Building a Modern Farmhouse
Today, we’re showcasing a near-completed modern farmhouse custom home in Ramona, California. With just a few final touches remaining, I’m excited to guide you through its transformation.
Exterior Highlights
Starting at the front, you’ll notice the newly installed garage doors and freshly poured concrete. The front entry has transformed beautifully with:
- Fiber cement, board and batten siding
- A freshly painted front door
- Open beams on the porches and sleek black windows
- Concrete groundwork
- Black gutters integrated with the drainage system
From the side view, take in the aesthetic garage doors crafted from durable metal with a wood grain appearance. Also featured is an expansive garage bay and mini splits for garage air conditioning.
Back Porch Elegance
The back porch showcases:
- Contemporary fans and a chandelier
- Open beams combined with board and batten siding
- Black-painted hardware on beams and posts
- Black windows complemented by white fiber cement siding
- A roof constructed with four-by-eight rafters, two-by-six tongue and groove, covered with five-eighths OSB and finished with an appealing stain

Interior Splendor
Although there are some final touches to be made, the house already feels like a home. In the kitchen:
- The range hood and cabinets are freshly painted.
- A commercial-grade range is installed alongside a refrigerator and microwave.
- A wine bar area adds a touch of luxury.
The living room boasts a fireplace with stone extending to the ceiling and a rustic wooden mantle. This fireplace, a Fireplace Xtraordinair, is designed to heat the entire house.
Bathrooms: A Blend of Function and Aesthetics
In one of the bathrooms, we’ve integrated a linear niche in the shower, framed with Schluter metal and spacious enough to span five feet. Black finishes on the plumbing match the shower enclosures, windows, and cabinet hardware. The design features octagon tiles, quartz countertops, mirrors, and well-positioned lighting.
The master bath has a zero-barrier shower with large tiles, a notched panel for the seat, and a long linear niche. The color-matching caulk minimizes potential cracking, especially at joints and intersections. The master also features an elegant vanity with brass-colored faucets, octagon floor tiles, and a freestanding tub.
Garage and Workshop
The RV bay garage, now cleaner than our last visit, includes an additional workshop area.
