Freeman Custom Home – Framing
This is Brandon with Freeman’s construction. I’m here in Ramona at my own home. This project began when the weather was about 110 degrees, and today we have a mix of snow and hail. I want to walk through the layout of this home and show the progress that we’ve made here.
We have lots of water inside the house here. A big storm blew into San Diego, and it’s been cold. I’m working on getting all the water pushed out so we can start drying out the home. I’ve started some of the plumbing in the walls. This area will be the guest bathroom, and our kids’ bathroom is here next to our master bedroom.
Roof Framing
Roof sheeting needs to begin, but fortunately we haven’t started yet because the rain would have saturated that OSB up on the roof. In the Great Room here the ceiling reaches 14 feet to the peak. Our Dining room is situated over there. The framers built these sheer boxes, they go in each bay right there. Then the paneling is nailed onto the outside and extends all the way to the roof. We got our kitchen in here.
Many Details
The waterproofing building paper is installed, and we plan to begin the stucco portion very soon. The wind can easily tear off all that paper if it sits exposed for too long. The front door is installed, kitchen window, facia was hung last week, and lots of other details completed. The stain color for these resawn beams have yet to be decided.
The house will be a grey-blue color. The fascia will be white. The roof is a dark grey. The next couple weeks should give us enough time to install the fire sprinklers and HVAC, but before that can happen, we need to finish this roof. Once we dry in the house, we can push the rough trades forward.
