Drywall and Insulation Removal During a Farmhouse Demo

Drywall and Insulation Removal

We’re out here on this little farmhouse demolition project in Middleton, Idaho. Today, we are focusing on drywall and insulation removal.

Drywall Removal

Behind the old walls are 1-by-12 skip sheathings outside the house. Then you can see the two-by-fours. They cut this out and replaced these windows over here. You can see this old cedar siding.

Insulation Removal

Something interesting here is the concrete on the outside skip sheathing in several building areas. The old custom home builders poured the concrete basement foundation and reused the forms.

You can see the actual lines of the boards where they poured up the wall. This is where they used all those boards that you were seeing up there on the skip sheathing.

Ceiling Demolition

Before we take the ceiling down, they’re taking all the electrical fixtures off here and just exposing the boxes so it doesn’t rip these lights out. This is an example of wires in a wall that didn’t have a junction box; they were just spliced together. You could never find this; this is a major fire hazard.
