Good morning. I’m Bill Freeman with Freemans Construction. I’m here on a job off of Black Canyon Road. The framers just started working on this project this morning. They’re standing all the walls up on this new home that we’re building. They’ve only been onsite for two to three hours and they make the work look so simple.
THE PROCESS
The process begins with what we call snap, plate, and detail. That garage wall on the ground is a great example of this process. The framers lay the plate lumber on the floor, then they snap out, and then they take those plates and nail the studs and openings in between the plates. Once the walls are framed on the ground, they tip the walls up and nail the walls together. They make the process look simple. Lots of muscle and lots of nails have gone into the professionalism in which these guys complete their work.
As soon as they stand all the walls, the plumb and line crew arrives to level and plumb all the standing walls. They make sure everything stands nice and straight. After that, they nail on the plywood shear panel, which ties everything off structurally, and then they stack the trusses on top of the home.
