Bill Freeman Gives a Walk-Through of a New Whole House Remodel Job

Good morning, this is Bill Freeman with Freemans Construction. I’m here at a job in Ramona that we’re just getting ready to start today. The demolition subcontractor will start pulling things out of this house. We plan to complete an entire renovation to the interior of this home. I’ll walk you through and just describe a few of the things we plan to accomplish.

We’re going to remove all the baseboard, all the flooring, all the carpet, all the tile throughout the house. This is a dining area. We’re going to pull out that window slider and replace it with a sliding glass door that will completely fill in that whole back wall. The sliding glass door will open up to their backyard. The owners here have a beautiful backyard and swimming pool that they’ll be able to see.

TYING IN THE KITCHEN

We’re also going to open up this opening here so it matches this larger opening, which will help tie the dining area together with the kitchen. We plan to keep the cabinets in the kitchen, but we will refinish them and replace all the countertops. We’ve already started to pull out the few portions of cabinetry that comes out. This kitchen will receive all new appliances. That portion of the cabinets will get reworked. We will shift that portion down and install a new microwave and countertop on the other side of that refrigerator cabinet.

THE FAMILY ROOM

We plan to completely rework that fireplace in the family room. We’ll save the fireplace box, raise the hearth, and then install some nice stone on the face with a distressed mantle.

BEDROOMS AND BACK OF HOUSE

We are going to redo all the bathrooms in the back. The floor plan will not change because everything lays out nicely, but we will change all the fixtures and finishes. This bathroom will change to a shower rather than a tub shower. We’ll install a new vanity and mirrors. This other bathroom will retain the existing cabinet, which we plan to refinish, but it will get new countertops, new sinks, new mirrors, and new medicine cabinets. We plan to save the tub here with a newly installed tile surround. We plan to save the cabinets in the laundry. Just like the bathrooms, we’ll install new countertops, a new sink, and new fixtures.

MASTER BATHROOM

Here in the master, this bathroom we will completely gut out everything. We’ll install new cabinets and new countertops as well. The windows have deteriorated, so we’re going to reconfigure the windows here as well as the shower. This shower will come out and we will replace that dam with a zero-barrier shower entrance. Over here, this tub is coming out and then we’ll install a freestanding tub with a spout that comes up out of the floor.

I walked through here yesterday and laid things out for our demo contractor that should start pulling things apart here soon. As we start tearing into this project, we will keep you updated on the progress. Have a great day.
